news
as of two weeks ago, the semester is over! that means i’ve got one more to go before i (finally) get my MFA, and some of my thesis work has started to make its way into the world in journals and magazines. it’s still a relatively quiet month for me, but i’m over the moon to give y’all some of these updates.
published poems: “holy see” and “ragweed season” in moth eaten mag Issue 1
published poem: “& this is my secret work, to be worthy” in Welter
published poems: “affirmations for your borderline personality disorder” and “holistic guide to being agender in public” in Anti-Heroin Chic, Issue 33
book review: Alex Carrigan’s review of you stupid slut is now live in Writer’s Block Magazine.
guest editing: i’m editing a series of ekphrastic poems to be published with JAKE during the first week of 2024! submissions are open from 12/24–12/30.
new mini zine: interlude is a one-page collage zine that i made during this year’s Plork Press zine workshop
on another note: thank you to everyone who voted for
for Chill Subs’ Best Lit Mags of 2023! coming in at #20 of over 600 publishers made my whole year.
notes
thesis update: the closer this book gets to a finalized manuscript, the more i am certain that while this project may be a chapbook, it’s got some real heft to it. photography, truth, the gaze, and a life examined are emerging as the major themes. i haven’t locked in a title yet, but i’m starting to think about cover/branding ideas and planning for that now. a hint: i’ve been thinking about alternative process photography and how i might incorporate that into the cover.
sneak peek
y’all, i am beat. i thought about taking a break from sneak peeks, but i realized i haven’t shown digicam photos in a while. i don’t have too much that’s new, so here are some of my favorite outtakes from the year.
friends
call: Plork Press is open for submissions on the theme of Work + Play until 2/1/24
release: this is WAY behind, but i just found out that Arlo Parks has a poetry book called The Magic Border that i cannot wait to read
current events
here’s what i’ve been reading, watching, listening to, and playing.
books: The Number 12 Looks Just Like You by Emily Perkovich, Have You Been Long Enough At Table by Leslie Sainz, girl poems by Anna K. Crooks
tv: Winter House (Peacock)
games: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Stardew Valley, Pokémon Shield
one final note: i’m pretty broke, and if some folks paid a little to see my silly little posts, it would go a long way, so i’m running a sale on paid subscriptions from now until the end of the year. this gives you a chance to pay either $2.50 a month or $25 a year (instead of $5/$50) FOREVER! the pool will always be free, but if you like my work and want to support my practice, this is a great way to do so.
