notes + sneak peek
forever circling the same topics of burnout and creative production. believe it or not, i feel the former knocking at my threshold right now and am doing my best to keep it all together. here’s a bit about that from my latest essay/rant, “on being prolific” (which, btw, you should read if you haven’t yet):
on being prolific
"...in case anyone needed a reminder, i pushed myself too hard career-wise a while back, and then the rest of my life fell apart around me and i was stuck keeping pace with an absolutely grueling standard i’d set for myself. it’s okay to lower your expectations sometimes. we live in a capitalist hellscape. survival, especially for the marginalized, gets harder and harder by the day. it’s good to have aspirations, but it’s also good to be realistic and adaptive."

i have reopened paid subscriptions. while the pool will always be 100% free, i’m frankly in a place where i could use any additional income i can get right now. if you’d prefer not to ferry your money through substack (i get it), you can also set up a recurring donation on ko-fi or send me a tip (scroll to the bottom for payment links).
