news

i’ve mostly stuck to my guns on submitting a little less this year, so again, this is a lighter month for me. but it’s still pretty cool, because i really dig all of the publications (and editors) i’ve worked with recently, plus i’ve got some extra fun stuff to share! and please do stay tuned for april, because i’m geeking out about it a little. (who am i kidding? i’m always geeking out over this stuff.)

  • published poem: “beaver dam run or laurel hill” in BRUISER

  • published poems: “after mabon,” “burnout,” and “forest life” in paper teeth press issue 1: fruitcake

  • published poem: “sour cherry” in Bulb Culture Collective

  • published essay: “On alchemy by any medium necessary” in Flat Ink Magazine

  • published visual poem: “favors (v. 3.0)” in Vocivia Magazine, Issue 3: Cyberscript

  • exhibition: my poem “audio NFT sextape” was included in the space in between gallery’s FUCK THE SYSTEM!!! exhibition

  • podcast interview: i joined podcast host Rob Lee for an episode of The Truth in This Art! give it a listen!

  • my book comes out march 27! the abyss is staring back is a hybrid poetry collection exploring disability, stasis, and late-life queerness and was published with Querencia Press. i can’t shout out Emily enough for how wonderful the process of publishing this one has been! you can get your copy from your preferred online bookseller (i’ve linked to Bookshop).

notes

my goal this semester in my writing workshop is to push my precision within a poem. this has led to me writing fairly fervently, and i’m proud of what i’ve been putting forth. as i continue to think about my final thesis book, though, i start thinking about how i can bring visual elements into it. i still don’t know, but the nature of my program’s play/work philosophy means i am likely going to figure it out when i least expect it. and i’m excited!

something else i did as i’ve been looking back at older work: a few of my older publication pdfs now live on my itch.io page! you can now download and read cadence (talking to myself), eventually i will learn to stop saying sorry, and What Are You Looking At? for $0+.

sneak peek

i recently had a really lovely time with some friends at the American Visionary Arts Museum in Baltimore. here are some photos i took with ye olde digicam that day!

A compilation of four images taken with nat’s digicam. Clockwise from top left: a warm-toned photograph of the ceiling windows and concrete at the American Visionary Arts Museum; mirrored lightcatchers hang from the bathroom lights at AVAM; a wall of glass bottles creating a stain glass effect; the sun peeks through bare trees against a blue sky.

friends

  • release: Cruel/Cruel by Dior J. Stephens is now out with Nightboat Books
