notes
my thesis raffle raised $375, but that’s not all the good news i have—i got a new job! and can now afford to print my thesis edition! in the spirit of the original raffle, i’ve chosen to split the proceeds between two of my very talented classmates.
in other news, you may have seen the recent publication of a work of genocide apologia by Guernica and subsequent mass exodus of their staff. if you’ve withdrawn work from Guernica or (another publication with similarly terrible values), The Offing is now opening submissions for REFUSAL, “for artists who seek a refuge for their work as they refuse to engage with the institutions that have failed them.” Offing board member Tariq Luthun said it best: “we must be forever mindful of the spaces we inhabit & how those spaces wield the power lent by our presence.”
