notes
i have perhaps come full circle from writing about chaos and have returned to writing about stasis. this time, it feels like gender stasis; my therapist reminds me that reaching a limit is a catalyst for change, and while this is no exception, it’s also a strange time to be seeking gender-affirming healthcare, which is the manifestation of stasis i’m running against right now. putting aside my phobia of surgeries, it’s hard to want to be visibly queer with violence escalating by the day. i think this is where my desire to “write lighter” is coming from; there’s something so defiant about queer joy in the face of widespread discrimination.
sneak peak
a poem!
i hate so much about the things that you choose to be
sometimes when i sink far enough
into my own silt, i imagine myself
swamped elsewhere; i see my waist fat
cinched in, suburban kitchen
tile underfoot and a man with a matching
ring next to me who once said it was
mildly disturbing i tracked
my body count. i imagine my imagination
recalling how i pictured my Xbox saying
achievement unlocked: emotional
wreckage! finally learn what it means to feel.
