news
some of pieces i absolutely love have entered the world in the last month! other than that, it’s been pretty quiet, except for some other exciting news 👀
published poem: “haworthia fasciata” in ALOCASIA #6
published poem: “this is not what they mean by ‘copywriting with emotion’” in Overheard Lit
published artwork: one of my mobile collages was published by Another Chicago Magazine!
published poems: “in quale porcia ferendo la coscia,” “nag's head” and “sunrise beach” in Querencia Press’ Autumn 2023 anthology
best of the net: i got two more nominations! Sage Cigarettes nominated my poem “failed self portrait as link from the legend of zelda: breath of the wild” and Black Stone / White Stone nominated my poem “we have been trying to reach you about your body’s extended warranty”
notes
here comes the part where i talk about thesis! i’ve written a lot about my experience in art school, of all things. still no idea where this project is going, but i’m having a lot of fun working on it!
i’ve also been spending october working on a series of poems based on the Peachtober prompts (admittedly i am a bit behind, but i aim to catch up!). if you’re not familiar, Peachtober is a creative challenge that was created as an alternative to Inktober, and its creator, Sha’an d’Anthes, always brings it with the most exciting one-word prompts. plus, it’s an any-medium creative challenge, so it’s always fun to see how others respond to the prompts. the work i’ve made working on this challenge has been very different, and i’m excited for it to start making its way out into the world.
sneak peek
let’s look at some collages! alongside my Peachtober poems, i have been trying to use royalty-free imagery to create corresponding collages for each prompt. i thought about revealing the prompts, but i think i’ll let you guess, instead!
